Mission Accomplished, kinda

After a couple of weekends spent doing various and sundry tasks in the yard, I was finally able to spend a good amount of time finishing the fence. It feels so nice to be able to go in the back yard and grill or play with Maya or work in the yard and not be so annoyed by the dumbest dog in the world owned by our neighbors. Over the course of the summer I will need to level the back yard and get rid of the divots in the grass.
This is the long segment of the fence, you can see a couple areas where I'll need to fix the divots and level the ground. Suzanne did mow the lawn on Saturday as well so the yard is looking pretty decent. Good job Suz!!

So here is the kinda part of the title. The gate is getting a little haggard, so I'll need to rebuilt it and I'll replace the front of the fence in the front yard next. I was also able to get some of the grass edge on Saturday as well so as to separate our back lawn from the Garden area. Once that is done, I'll need to relocate the gravel from the garden to the side-yard. I love working in the yard and doing these DIY projects!

My Favorite Facial Product!

This facial product has become one of my favorites to use morning and night. My skin looks so smooth and feels so soft! It really keeps the blackheads on my nose and chin almost completely gone. I used to only use it once a day, but I now use it morning and night along with my other facial cleanser and cleaning system. I highly recommend it to all! It is the blemish and blackhead control. Give it a go! I guarantee you'll love it.

Church calling an absolute surprise!

http://www.istockphoto.com/file_thumbview_approve/7255583/2/istockphoto_7255583-buzzy-beehive.jpg
Today in church I got my calling in our family ward. Mike and I have been joking with each other the last few weeks that we would be called into primary together since we kept hearing how they were short on primary teachers. I was, honestly, regretting this potential calling because I am around rowdy crazy children all day for 5 days a week. I would love if Sunday could be a break from that. Sitting in Sunday school today, a member of the bishopric called Mike and I out into the hall with him....we instantly knew what was coming. We looked at each other with nervous smiling expressions.

The kind friendly gentleman looked at me mostly and then said "We have found a calling for you Suzanne. We would like to call you as an advisor for the mia maids." I looked at Mike and had mixed thoughts. Is this better than primary? It is for sure!!! More attitude in different ways, but still different than being around work 6 days a week.

I accepted and we returned to class. That same gentleman came to us in class and said "I am sorry. I made a mistake. We want you to be the beehive advisor. Will you accept that call?" I was pleased to! What a fun age! Such cute girls! All throughout sacrament meeting I was scoping out the girls that look beehive age and I am excited! I will attend mutual after 13-14 years of having graduated that time in life. Youth conference is coming up....not sure how I feel about that one yet, but I know I feel excited about this calling, but also very inadequate and overwhelmed by it. I've never been in a leadership position like this with church. I know it is what the Lord wants me to do and there is some girl that the Lord feels could benefit from this. I will grow great amounts in this new calling. Back to BEEHiVES!!!

His sleeping personality

As I am discovering with much amusement and many giggles, Mike has personality when he sleeps. Often in the middle of the night he will say things from dreams that do not make any sense. I will ask him "What?" or "Huh?" and then he tells me the next morning he has no memory of what he said or did. For example, early this morning at 3:15 I woke up very thirsty and hot. Mike always has a glass of water by his side of the bed so I asked him for a drink from his water. He rolled over and gave it to me, almost completely empty. I drank the few drops that were left and went to the kitchen to fill it up again. After returning to bed Mike asked me
"Where's the table saw blade I gave you?" I asked what he was talking about.
"The table saw blade I gave you." He replied. "I know I gave you a saw blade."
I responded, "Honey, you gave me a glass of water. That's it."
Mike then goes quiet and says, "I'm so confused! I feel really weird. I know I gave you a table saw blade."
He began laughing very hard and I was so perplexed and concerned. I honestly could not determine if he was awake or talking in his sleep. Waking up this morning he asked if he was talking last night. I agreed quickly and told him my version of the evening's events.

We had a good laugh and he said he 's still confused about it. Must have been from a dream he was having before I asked for the water.

Example 2:
During the night I like to cuddle up close to Mike. He is a nice heater, but also gets hot very easily. I put my left leg under his right leg which is one of my favorite things to do. I must have nicked him with one of my toenails because he said gruffly, "Ouch!" so I moved my leg. Next thing I hear is, "Don't be so dramatic." I was surprised that such a rude comment came from him to me. He never says anything like that to me. I asked him the next morning if he remembered saying that to me at all. He was so embarrassed and he had no recollection of saying that. He felt so bad. I told him I wasn't offended, but more surprised he'd said it at all. Never a dull moment with Mike as a husband!

Home Improvement

As Suzanne mentioned, we are trying to make some small improvements to our home to increase its aesthetic appeal and its value, not to mention our privacy and backyard enjoyment without stupid neighbor dogs pestering. I have had a ton of fun building the new and improved fence and playing with my tools. I have been using this and other projects as an excuse to buy more tools and fun toys for myself! Here are some pictures of the work so far. This is the fence after an hour or so of work.

This is the ghetto rig I set up for the neighbors half of the fence. If I have to fix their piece of junk fence I'm not putting a lot of effort into making their side look nice. I wont see any of that from my side of the fence!
Maya likes to help out with work in the yard. She is more of the supervisor... notice the blanket she is laying on so as not to get muddy...
Tearing out the old post and concrete setting.
Beginning the new side to our fence!!!!

We'll keep posting pictures as we progress in this project and a couple of others. The other one we are working on is clearing our garden space in enough time to plant a garden, which involves a new grass edge, fencing to keep Maya out of our vegetables, clearing out all the gravel which is there now, and probably getting more soil to till into the hardened clay underneath.
